A left arm orthodox spinner, Steve O’Keefe, affectionately known as SOK, made his First Class debut for NSW in 2005-06 as a 19 year old rookie and boasts very impressive career stats.
His consistent performances over many years, finally earned him a baggy green Test cap. He made his Test debut for Australia in 2014 against Pakistan in the UAE. Steve played 9 Tests for Australia, and famously claimed 6-35 in each innings against India in Pune in February 2017.
Throughout his stellar career, Steve will go down as one of the country’s finest spin bowlers having collected 301 first class scalps at an impressive average of 24.66 runs each. He also scored almost 2,356 First Class runs at an average of 25.60 with the bat.
The left-arm finger spinner drew the curtain on a magnificent 15-year First Class career for the NSW Blues in April 2020, but continues to play Big Bash.
Steve has signed on for another season with his beloved Sydney Sixers for 2023/24. His continued presence in the Sydney Sixers squad offers a wealth of experience and guidance to emerging spinners.
Steve is forging a media career as on-air talent with SEN Radio and in ad hoc commentary with the TV rights holders for various cricket series in Australia and internationally where he has been well received for his ability to provide a contemporary insight into the modern game whilst continuing the tradition of spinning a good story or two as well.
Steve is an emerging media talent and engaging corporate speaker.
