The youngest of Collingwood's picks in the 2016 AFLW Draft, Ruby was selected from East Fremantle FC as one of the most promising up and coming key position players of the competition.
Making the move from Perth with relative ease, Ruby is another footballer who was previously pursuing a career in the US College Basketball system before focusing on her football.
Showing incredible development throughout her first year of AFLW, Ruby decided to stay in Melbourne during the winter and play in the VWFL for St Kilda Sharks to further establish her playing credentials. The hard work paid off in the 2018 AFLW season, however a few injuries including a serious concussion limited her output at times. Fortunately Ruby made a full recovery and made another positive step forward in 2019.
Returning to Perth in the winter of 2019, Ruby put in a huge amount of work in the off season to set herself up for a big year in 2020. Whilst she started well, Ruby suffered a broken wrist which ruled her out of the rest of the season. Not to be perturbed, Ruby again dedicated herself in the off season and was one of the leagues biggest improvers in 2021 as she showed dash off the back flank. Ruby’s efforts were recognized with her first All Australian selection.
Enjoying a breakout year in 2022 where she slotted in to the Magpie midfield, Ruby took her game to new heights. Collecting her second All Australian award, Ruby has announced herself on the competition as a pivotal player & leader for the Pies, as well as the AFLW.
Ruby currently works at Fox Footy where she is employed in a number of roles including featuring on AFL Tonight, The Bounce, Boundary Expert for AFL Games, and Special Comments for AFLW Games. In addition Ruby provides expert comments for MMM, and is a Brand Ambassador for ADIDAS & AFLW. With an engaging personality, Ruby is infectious on camera and has become one of the rising stars of media in the AFLW.
