Darragh Joyce is only the third Irishman to represent the St Kilda Football Club. Selected as a Category B Rookie in 2016 having never previously played the game, Darragh caught the Saints attention with his tremendous athleticism.
A former hurling star from Kilkenny, Darragh has learnt how to play key position in both the backline and the forward line. Suffering an injury interrupted 2020 season due to a hamstring tendon injury and an operation to repair the ligaments in his thumb, Darragh featured in the Saints line up on five occasions in 2021. Despite a successful season in the VFL, Darragh was given limited opportunities only playing 3 AFL games. At the end of the 2022 season, Darragh joined the Brisbane Lions during the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period. Darragh experienced a solid first season with the Lions, playing 5 AFL games and having another great VFL season. As a result, Darragh has signed a one year extension for the 2024 season where he looks to have a strong season.
